Renault’s KWID has been one of most awaited hatchbacks in India

NEW DELHI: Renault’s KWID has been one of the most awaited hatchbacks due for launch in India. Expected to be a budget friendly option with a price tag of around Rs 3 Lakh, new car buyers have been looking forward for the official launch. The upcoming model has been spotted by sources while undergoing road test, thereby indicating on a possible launch sometime soon. The Renault KWID is stated to be based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s modular CMF-A platform.

The new Renault KWID is expected to be powered by a 800cc three-cylinder DOHC engine that is expected to generate about 57 Bhp of power. A while ago describing KWID Renault stated, “With Kwid, Renault continues to pursue its strategy of accessible mobility for all to step up its international growth. Using a new Renault-Nissan Alliance platform and following the trail blazed by the Duster, the Kwid will enable Renault to continue its expansion and address the needs of customers who want a vehicle that is stylish, robust and easy to use.”

Based on spy shots, the vehicle is expected to carry unpainted bumpers, lacks side body cladding and regular steel wheel instead of alloys, as the one spotted is likely to be a lower end variant. The higher variant is expected to get better features along with the possibility of seven inch infotainment display being offered.
