Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

KARACHI: The renovation and refurbishment work in Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB/R&D) of the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Appraisement (West) is being continued.
According to details, the paint work, changing of furniture and other renovation work has entered into the final stage and would be completed by the advent of the next month i.e. December.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Collector, Muhammad Saleem during his visit to the AIB/R&D Section in last week directed the authorities concerned of the section to present the summary of the allocated funds required for the renovation of entire AIB/R&D Section including Law/Legal Branch and others, so that the Collectorate can issue the required funds for the renovation work respectively.
It may be mentioned here that the Collector Muhammad Saleem asked the officials concerned of the AIB/R&D Section to refurbish entire Branch on contemporary lines in order to give a firm impression for the visitors and importers, who visited the AIB/R&D Branch.
The Collector also expressed his satisfaction over the performance of AIB-R&D officials, while stressed upon more deterrence by the officials concerned in order to detect tax-evasion cases through mis-declaration and violation of SROs.
The sources informed this scribe that a sum of around Rs0.5million has been allocated for the renovation of AIB/R&D Section of the MCC-Appraisement (West) in the first stage.
