KARACHI: The Research and Development (R&D) Section of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement (East) has made it clear that the R&D Section with the active support of the Collector Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi is striving hard to facilitate the importers and avoid making un-necessary contravention reports against the importers.
Sharing their views with Customs Today, the authorities said that the Collector-MCC Appraisement (East) has vigilant eye over the issues of the importers pertaining to the R&D Section and he had issued clear directives to the officials to facilitate the importers while remaining in the ambit of law and justice.
They revealed that the lower staff just for the sake of their inner ego has made contravention reports against the importers for creating annoyance for the trade.
It was further stated that the lower staffers were often involved in disobeying the orders of their high-ups regarding the release of the consignments and also involved in contempt of court orders in releasing the consignments.
They said that the Collector-MCC Appraisement (East) Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi has clear directives to all the officials of the Collectorate to ensure facilitation to the trade and import activities.
On contrary, the lower staff of R&D Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) has recently written a letter to the Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Ali Khan to form a committee over releasing the consignments on nepotism basis.
The sources revealed this scribe that the communication gap between the lower and higher officers of R&D Section is being widen with the passage of time which affecting the working of the key departments in terms of detecting the revenue leakages.
