CANADA: Marine researchers rescued a young humpback whale that was entangled in rope off Cape Cod on Friday afternoon, according to officials from the Center for Coastal Studies. Passengers and crew of the Provincetown-based Dolphin Fleet whale-watching service spotted the humpback, which had ropes and buoys caught in its mouth, a statement on the center’s website said. The whale was spotted about 5 miles north of Provincetown, said Cathrine Macort, a spokeswoman for the center. It was accompanied by a young humpback that had been disentangled back in April. On Friday, the whale was eventually freed with help from the Marine Animal Entanglement Response team, officials said.
