Respondents in Hino Dump truck seizure case summoned

LAHORE: Collector of Customs Adjudication Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has issued show cause notice to the owner of a seized Hino Dump truck and summoned the party on July 11, to appear in person or through an accredited counsel and reply as to why his truck should not be impounded.

According to detail it has been reported by the Superintendent of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Lahore vide seizure report in case number 14/2017 dated 6.2.2017 issued under endorsement Investigation-FBR, intercepted a Hino dump truck near Babu Sabu Interchange Shera Kot, Lahore. The drive of the Dump truck identified himself as Azhar Alil khan son of Altaf Hussain, resident of Gharbi Khudai,  P.O. and tehsil Hasanabdal, district Attock.

It was said that on demand the driver failed to produce any legal documents except registration book vide no. A0037036 regarding subject truck and detained the truck under the Customs Act.

It was reported that on further probe into the matter, the import status of the said Hino dump truck having chassis number 19293 was checked from the PRAL data which shows “no record in query report”.

It is meaning that no such vehicle was legally imported into Pakistan. Moreover, the detained truck was referred to Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Lahore for further investigation to also confirmed that the truck was not legally imported

The office of Customs Adjudication issued show cause notice to the respondents to appear before the collector and reply as to why the truck involving duty and taxes worth Rs 39,68,000 may not be seized.
