ISLAMABAD: Economic expert and former Advisor to Finance Minister Dr. Ishfaq Hussain has said that restoration of peace in Afghanistan is imperative for making ECO summit like efforts fruitful in the region.
He said that no doubt, our region is flourished with a lot of potential and scope to promote trade and investment here. However, these potential cannot be utilized until peace is restored in Afghanistan.
He added that a large number of energy projects between Pakistan and Central Asian countries were pending due to worse law and order situation in Afghanistan.
All these efforts will be confined into just documents and these projects are not viable until everlasting peace is restored in the region. Ishfaq Hussain further stated that development takes place due to regional connectivity, which is only possible if there is peace in Afghanistan.
