Revenue officers seize over 30,000 cigarettes in Dublin

DUBLIN: Officers with a warrant searched a private house, two cars and two vans in Dublin’s inner city, targeting the sale of illegal cigarettes in the Moore Street area.

They discovered the cigarettes and tobacco with the assistance of Revenue’s tobacco dog Casey (below right).

In a separate operation focusing on the illegal importation of cigarettes, Revenue officers seized 6,200 cigarettes.

A controlled delivery to a premises on the north side of Dublin city was completed and a premises searched under warrant.

A Polish woman was interviewed at the premises.

A file is being prepared with a view to prosecution.

The L&M and Marlboro Gold brands seized would retail at around €2,400.
