SIBERIA: Even though Lara will be pretty chilly throughout Rise of the Tomb Raider, which takes place in Siberia, Game Director Brian Horton mentioned to Game Informer that at least one place won’t be entirely frozen.

Apparently, this place is a sort of oasis, and serves as a way to give players a break from all of that Siberian snow and frost. Horton mentioned that it was important to the team not to have players play through a game with “one single look.”

There’s a bubble of the world that seems to exist outside Siberia. We call it the oasis.

It isn’t completely permafrost. This oasis, which we’re not going into a lot of detail about – just now that different weather, different temperatures are important to make sure we’re not going with one single look throughout the whole game.

What do you think of the new info on Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s setting? Are you glad the game won’t totally take place in the snow?
