RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) in collaboration with district and City Traffic Police, under grand anti-encroachment operation has confiscated 10 truckload goods of encroachers while 350 motorcycles parked in no parking areas were also impounded during five six days.
According to a RMC spokesman, the staff on the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner and Mayor Rawalpindi conducted raids in various city areas to remove encroachments under the supervision of area magistrate Ahmed Hassan Ranjham and Chief Officer, MC Khalid Javed Goraya.
The teams visited Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road, Raja Bazaar, Bara Bazaar, Jamia Masjid Road, Gangmandi, Machli Mandi, Jinnah Road, Talwaran Bazar, Mochi Bazar, Borah Bazar and the adjoining roads and confiscated goods of nearly 120 encroachers while fines of Rs 30,000 were also imposed on the spot on the shopkeepers found indulged in encroachments.
The enforcement staff would continue the operation on daily basis and the violators would be fined and their goods confiscated, the spokesman said adding, despite repeated warnings, the encroachments were not removed. Now, strict action in accordance with the law is being taken and the confiscated goods would not be returned to the shopkeepers rather to be auctioned, he added.
He informed, 350 motorcycles parked in no parking areas and on the roads, creating hurdles in smooth flow of traffic were also lifted through fork lifters and impounded in respective police stations. He informed that six FIRs were also lodged against the rules violators in respective police stations.
