Road checking campaign enters into successful second week

KARACHI: A road checking campaign has entered into the second week in Karachi. This campaign is being launched on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

So far from 20th March to 27th of March, about 6855 vehicles have been checked by the E&T Department teams in different parts of Karachi.

About 71 vehicles were impounded and documents of 927 vehicles were seized, however about 243 documents were released after receiving due tax and penalty. Minister for E&T Mukesh Kumar Chawla was informed that Rs01.5million were collected in term of taxes, Rs01.1million in term of withholding tax while Rs222632 were received in term of penalties.

It is to mention here that the road checking campaign will continue till 31st of March. The minister has again advised those vehicle owners, who have not paid their due taxes, to deposit their taxes to avoid any unpleasant situation.
