Romania reduces sunflower exports in 2015/16

LONDON: During first two months of season 2015/16 Romania reduced sunflower exports and crushing. Thus, during the specified period exports reached 654 KMT (656 KMT in September and October of 2014/15 MY), and sunflower oil production – 59 KMT (100 KMT last year).

It seems that under conditions of declining sunflower crop in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, Romania relies on sunflower exports rather than on crushing. It’s due to relatively high export prices for this crop during the first months of the season.
