Roshan Digital Accounts surpass $8.4b in remittances

KARACHI: The volume of remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) has surpassed $8.416 billion, according to recent data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The latest figures reveal that in July 2024 alone, overseas Pakistanis transferred $161 million through the RDA platform. This brings the cumulative remittance volume from September 2020 to July 2024 to an impressive $8.416 billion.

In comparison, the total remittance for June 2024 was notably higher at $224 million. The data also highlights a significant rise in account openings, with 10,820 new Roshan Digital Accounts registered in July. The total number of active accounts now stands at 723,598.

Investment patterns through RDA have also shown substantial growth. Overseas Pakistanis have invested $357 million in New Pakistan Certificates, $618 million in New Pakistan Islamic Certificates, and $39 million in Roshan Equity Investments.
