KABUL: The management at Roshan Telecommunications Company in Kabul said on Monday the company lost a staggering number of employees in Wednesday’s truck bombing.
According to them, more than 30 members of staff and staff from their partner companies were killed in the explosion. In addition over 50 were wounded.
Sharif Sharifi, Roshan’s head of public relations, said some of Roshan’s services have been affected.
“A big part of Roshan services is running normally, but some services like M-Paisa have been slow but this will be resolved soon,” said Sharifi. Roshan also sustained tremendous damage to its buildings.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said that the worst affected by Wednesday’s bombing was the private sector.
“Most of the companies that were located near the bombing, in addition to financial losses, have lost many employees – especially technical employees,” ACCI Deputy Head Khan Jan Alkozai said.
Roshan company employees, who survived the blast, said the explosion has incurred huge losses for the company.
“The explosion was very strong and we hardly had time to hide in the basement and we saw how everything in the offices were destroyed,” said Khalilullah Attaie, a Roshan technical employee.
Roshan staff said that they will continue to work in Afghanistan and will resolve service problems as soon as possible.
