Customs impounds smuggled LEDs worth Rs 2.5 million from Karachi-bound train

LAHORE: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized LEDs worth Rs 2.5 million from a Karachi-bound train, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that on information of Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Saud Imran, the anti-smuggling team of Customs Intelligence raided a train which was going to Karachi from Lahore. During thorough examination, the team recovered assorted types of LEDs of famous companies including 66, 60, 24, 32, 24 inches worth millions of rupees.

The sources said that the LEDs were hidden in a consignment of shoes, the sources said adding that the LEDs were valued at Rs2.5 million.

Earlier, Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore seized Rs 6 million non-customs paid tyres loaded in two trucks, on Friday.  The tyres were to be supplied to parties in Sheikhupura and loaded from somewhere in godown in Lahore.

The sources said that the trucks were intercepted by customs authorities at the Band Raod and tyres were seized as no legal documentations were available against the consignment.

The sources said that both the trucks were loaded with 100 tyrse of large size each tyres was valued at Rs 60000 per tyre.  The trucks were intercepted by a team led by Superintendent Malik Yasin. Inspector Zulfiqar and spoyes were also part of the team.
