Rs 24m scam: PIA starts probe into financial irregularity

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has initiated inquiry into financial irregularity worth millions of rupees after suspending two senior officials at Lahore airport.

“PIA management has detected irregularities to tune of Rs 24 million in civil works department at Lahore,” Spokesman of PIA in a statement issued here on Thursday stated.

“An inquiry has been initiated in to the matter and the concerned Manager Works and Senior Works officer have been suspended,” he said. According to the sources senior officers of the airlines have been carrying out the probe to ascertain the facts.

Penalties, if any, would be determined in the light of the findings after completion of the inquiry proceedings, the Spokesman added. However, he did not mention, in the written statement, that how long will the inquiry take to be finalized.
