Customs Court sends Joy Foam’s director on remand in Rs 34m tax evasion case

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent director of M/s Joy Foam, who is allegedly involved in tax evasion amounting to Rs 34 million, on judicial remand.

A team of Customs Intelligence presented the accused named Hassan Javed before the court after completion of his physical remand and asked the court to send him to jail for further trial. It may be mentioned here that the director of M/s Joy Foam has filed a post-arrest bail plea in the court.

Earlier, the Customs Intelligence arrested Hassan Javed on the charges of sales tax evasion. The Customs Intelligence found a difference of Rs 34 million in sales tax statements of Joy Foam.

A First Information Report was registered against him under Section 2 (37) of Sales Tax Act, 1990 and a Customs team presented him before the court on February 25, when he was sent on physical remand.
