Rs 34m tax evasion: M/s Joy Foam’s director sent on physical remand

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has remanded an alleged tax evader, director of Joy Foam (Private) Limited into the custody of the Customs Investigation for 10 days.

The Lahore Customs Intelligence arrested Hassan Javed on the charges of sales tax evasion. The Customs Intelligence checked his company’s record and found a difference of Rs 34 million in sales tax statements.

A First Information Report was registered against him under Section 2 (37) of Sales Tax Act, 1990 and a Customs team presented him before the court on February 25 (today). The officials sought his physical remand for interrogation, which was granted by the court.

The director of the Joy Foam will be presented before the court on March 4 for further prosecution after completion of the investigation.
