LAHORE: As many as 1,181 public transporters have been challaned for overcharging and about 1,164 vehicles have been fined for having illegal LPG cylinders by the Lahore Transport Company (LTC).
The LTC collected about Rs1.21 million in terms of fine and challaned during the month of June.
This was stated by LTC Chief Executive Officer Khawaja Haider Latif while chairing the meeting to review the overcharging of public transport fares and illegal installed LPG cylinders in wagons and rickshaws in the city at LTC Headquarter.
Kh Haider said that the enforcement department would strenuously ensure that the personnel of enforcement wing without any discrimination proceed against those found in overcharging of public transport fares and using illegal LPG cylinders in public service vehicles.
He was briefed by the enforcement department that special teams were constituted under the supervision of Motor Mobile Patrolling Inspectors in various zones of Lahore and therefore in the month of June, 18339 public transport vehicles have been checked, while 1181 were challaned on overcharging and 1164 vehicles fined for having illegal LPG cylinders while an amount of 1215500 has been deposited in the kitty of Punjab government.
Similarly, 23 public transport vehicles impounded on overcharging and 63 Public transport vehicles using illegal LPG cylinders impounded in various parts of the city including Choubourji, Muslim Town, Johar Town, Chowki Raja Market, Chungi Amrsidhu, Mughal Pura, Bhatti Chowk, Nawab Town and other areas of the city.
