ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has directed K-Electric to ensure continuous power supply to the metropolis even in case it is not given 650MW from the national grid after Jan 25 and imposed Rs10 million fine on it for illegally charging Rs7.50 per customer meter rent.
Nepra, in a letter, also directed the K-Electric to refund the collected amount as meter rent to consumers through adjustment in future bills and submit a compliance report within 30 days.
Nepra told K-Electric that the company has sufficient power of 2,400MW as its average supply to consumers during the financial year 2013-14 remained about 1,700MW.
K-Electric Spokesman Usama Qureshi said the Nepra letter about electricity arrangements beyond Jan 25 and withdrawal of 650MW by the NTDC was a contempt of court.
