ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has retreated that the government will not privatise Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).
The minister, responding the movement of ANP’s Haji Adeel against privatisation of OGDCL, said “the privatisation programme was initiated in 1990 and every successive government continued it. Many institutions were making profits after privatisation.”
According to the government documents, the government is going to privatise HBL, National Power Construction Company (NPCC) and Heavy Electrical Complex are including in the list. Eight other organizations will be privatising in next year including Pakistan Steel mills (PSM) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Sources said that to sell the shares of HBL government will get more than Rs136 billion in which the foreign exchange shares will be one billion dollars. Two billion rupees will be got from National Power Construction Company (NPCC) while one billon will be generated from Heavy Electrical Complex.
