PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is set to unveil more than Rs400 billion annual budget today (Saturday) for the fiscal year 2014-15 with Rs139 billion Annual Development Programme (ADP).
It will be the PTI’s government second budget which will be presented by Finance Minister Sirajul Haq.

The total volume of the budget has been increased to Rs400 billion against the last year outlay of Rs344 billion. For the new financial year, the provincial government has allocated Rs139 billion for the Annual Development Programme (ADP), making some 18 per cent increase as compared to the previous year. A total of 1,251 projects have been included in the new ADP which includes 711 ongoing and 450 new schemes.
This year, the PTI government has proposed introducing a few new taxes, including agricultural tax and GST on services in the province besides earmarking Rs261 billion for ongoing developmental schemes.
The provincial government is also likely to announce raise in salaries from 10 to 15 percent for its employees. The budget recommendations will be presented to the provincial cabinet for approval today (Saturday) before its formal presentation on the floor of the house.
Likewise, for the fiscal year 2014-15, the government has earmarked Rs1,587 million for agriculture department, Rs149 million for Auqaf department, Rs1,271 million for buildings, Rs1,672 million for district development programmes, Rs8,132 million for elementary and secondary education, Rs3,046 million energy and power, Rs57 million environment, Rs4,049 million for finance, Rs501 million for food and Rs1,015 million for forest.
Similarly, the government has set aside Rs8,280 million for health, Rs6,180 million higher education, Rs3,500 million for home department, Rs956 million for housing, Rs3,471 million for industries, Rs224 million for information, Rs26 million for labour department, Rs1,050 million for law and parliamentary affairs department, Rs626 million for minerals and Rs330 million population.
