ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced electricity tariff by Rs. 2.97 per unit. The decision was taken after hearing a petition filed by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) seeking decrease in per unit power rates. The prices have been reduced due to fuel adjustment for the month of November.
The revised rates will be not be applicable for the consumers of K-Electric. The nation will receive relief of Rs. 17 billion due to the reduction in power tariffs.

According to NEPRA officials, the rates were slashed due to the reduction of crude oil and furnace prices in the world market.
It should be noted Prime Minister had already announced that the power rates would be brought down.
Earlier, the CPPA, in its petition submitted with the regulator, sought Rs2.92 per unit reduction in power price on account of monthly fuel price adjustment. Also, the regulator by approving Rs2.97 per unit decrease in power prices approved Rs19 billion worth relief for all power consumers except K-Electric.
