Rs1928.103m revenue leakages detected in Appraisement-West, East

KARACHI: The short recovery/revenue leakages to the tune of Rs 1928.103 million have been detected in the Model Customs Collectorate-Appraisement West, East this year, it is learnt.

The Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs prepared 31 audit reports and 81 audit observations pointing out short recovery and loss to the national kitty by the MCC-Appraisement West, East.

The official sources told Customs Today, that the internal audit officials had detected revenue leakages in the sectors including steel billets, anti-dumping, telecommunication and DTRE.

The majority of the consignments were cleared off from Karachi port, sources said adding that different paras worth around Rs 100 million had already been settled while the process was underway to ensure settlements of the remaining paras with due recovery.

It is mentioned here, that the Internal Audit has established billions of rupees audit paras and the departmental audit of the MCC-Appraisement West and East are responding positively by prompt response.
