KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to order the K-Electric management to ensure cut in the power tariff in proportion to his announcement to provide relief to the masses.

He regretted that the Prime Minister had announced a substantial decrease in power tariff but K-Electric denied reducing power tariff and appeared stubborn to pass on its benefits to the masses.

The MQM chief demanded that K-Electric should stop by dirty tactics of earning and ensure relief to the public.

Mr Hussain demanded the Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif to take action against K-Electric and make it following the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding decrease in power tariff.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chapter chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also demanded the government and National Electric Power and Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to direct K-Electric to reduce its electricity tariff following the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding a cut in electricity tariff by Rs2.32.

Hafiz Naeem said that Karachiites are deprived of relief which is due after the reduction in POL and electricity prices, adding that the common men should get the relief in terms of reduced electricity tariff.
