ISLAMABAD: The government, giving Rs25 billion subsidy, has further reduced the power tariff by Rs4.42 per unit, however, the customers using less than 50 units per month will not be able to enjoy this relief.
According to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) notification, the price cut is the result of the fuel adjustment which was done in February. The distribution companies have been directed to allocate the price cut in the May billings.
The Nepra authorities said for the first time record price cut had been implemented due to reduction in prices of the furnace oil. In February, the distribution companies were sold at least Rs5.75 billion unit electricity.
