Rs29.57m and $1.10m transactions: NAB arrests forest officer of BS-18 over illegal assets

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa zone has arrested a divisional forest officer of BPS-18 for allegedly making illegal assets worth millions of rupees.

The suspect will be produced before an accountability court on Tuesday (today) by NAB for getting his physical custody.

According to an official statement, the NAB received a complaint wherein it was mentioned that the accused, Tariq Khan, serving as DFO Kohistan accumulated huge assets in different areas of Peshawar district including houses, plots, heavy investment in different schemes and huge transactions made through his and his family members’ bank accounts.

Taking cognisance of the complaint, the NAB director general authorised an inquiry into the matter. During the inquiry, it was revealed that Tariq Khan accumulated illegally a bungalow on University Road Peshawar; a one kanal and 13 marlas agricultural land on Warsak Road Peshawar; two kanals and 18 marlas plot in Tehkal Payan, Peshawar; three kanals land in Mardan and four marlas flat situated at Tehkal Payan, Peshawar.

The statement said that the suspect had unexplained cash transactions through his and his wife bank accounts to the tune of Rs29.57 million. Also, an unexplained transaction of $1.10 million has been uncovered in his wife’s bank account.
