ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) has sent audit report prepared by its regional directorate Karachi against diplomatic warehouse. M/S General Enterprises Co. Karachi, which exclusively deals in import and supply of liquor in the names of diplomats.
The Audit report has unearthed massive fraud and wrong doings carried out by the Enterprises from the very start of business which continued up till now. The detailed report has calculated loss of billion of rupees caused by illegal supply of liquor in the name of diplomats stationed in Karachi.
According to details the audit has reveled in startling and criminal violations committed by the diplomatic bond. Over the years all operations and activities of the bond are marred by fraud, forgery and mis-declaration. Even the license was obtained and renewed by fraud submitting false documents and particulars.
The massive fiscal fraud and scam resulted in colossal revenue loss. The value of liquor, without any duty and taxes, cleared and removed clandestinely is more than Rs2.221 billion. It is estimated that over 20 million people in Pakistan consumes liquor.
Since all sections of the society cannot afford this imported expensive liquor they are led to consumes all sorts of local liquors even the toxic one prepared by unscrupulous person. Recently 32 persons died after consuming Toxic liquor in toba Tek Singh. The directorate General of Post Clearance Audit carried out the audit on the directions of Federal Board of Revenue. Now the report has been sent to FBR requesting to initiate proceedings against the diplomatic bond.
