Rs316,500 fine imposed: 129 profiteers fined 15 arrested for overcharging

KARACHI: The administration of metropolis, taking action against profiteers, has challened 129 shopkeepers and imposed Rs316,500 fine on them for overcharging in violation of officially approved price list while 15 shopkeepers were arrested for continuous profiteering.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, in a statement, said that the Karachi Divisional and District administrations took action against illegal profiteering and adulteration during an on-going crackdown in Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Murad Memon Goth, Model Colony, Shah Faisal, Saddar, Aram Bagh, Civil Lines, Garden, Harbour, Jamshed Quarter, Gulzar Hijri, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Landhi, Shah Faisal, South, Central, West, East, Malir and Korangi districts.
