Rs33.996b for PAEC, Rs7.832b for HEC: Govt releases Rs172.4b out of Rs525b for development projects

ISLAMABAD (APP): The government has released Rs172.453 billion so far for several projects out of the total allocated amount of Rs525 billion for the financial year 2014-15.

According to the latest data of Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, Rs33.996 billion have been released for various projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, out of its total allocations of Rs51.475 billion, earmarked under PSDP for FY 2014-15.

An amount of Rs7.832b have been released for HEC out of its total allocations of Rs 20.068 billion whereas Rs14.865b have been released for Water and Power Division (Water Sector) out of its total allocations of Rs43.427b for the current fiscal year.

The government released Rs26.966 billion for Railways Division for which Rs39.566 billion have been earmarked in the PSDP of FY 2014-15.

Similarly an amount of Rs1.9488 billion has been released for Cabinet Division out of its total allocations of Rs2.077 billion whereas Rs2.989 billion have been released for Communications Division (other than National Highway Authority) out of total allocation of Rs3.152 billion.

The defence division has so far been received an amount of Rs97.451 million out of its total allocation of 2.261 billion while a sum of Rs 354.221 million have been released for Commerce Division out of its total allocations of Rs 363 million.

Out of the total allocations of Rs 11.061 billion allocated for Finance Division, the government has so far released Rs1.9714 billion.

According to the data, the government also released Rs1.443 billion for Interior Division for which Rs3.9 billion have been earmarked in the budget of current year whereas Rs 414.775 billion have been released for National Food Security and Research Division.

Similarly, Rs20.388 billion have been released for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division out of its total allocations of Rs27.014 billion.

A sum of Rs 361.802 million have been released for Planning, Development and Reform Division out of Rs29.425 billion. An amount of Rs33.72 million has been released for Narcotics Control Division out of its total funds of Rs 324 million.

The government also released Rs286.342 million for Science and Technological Research Division, Rs40.4 million for Textile Industry Division and Rs 140 million for SUPARCO.

The government released Rs4.325 billion for AJK (Block and other projects) out of its allocations of Rs12.127 billion, Rs4.227 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan (Block and other projects) out of its total allocations of Rs9.23 billion and Rs7.1801 billion for SAFRON/FATA out of its Rs1.91 billion.

Similarly Rs2.1442 billion have been released for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) out of its total allocations of Rs5 billion.

The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds.

The Commission releases 20 percent of funds in first quarter (July- September), 20 percent in second quarter (October-December), 30 percent third quarter(January-March) and 30 percent in fourth quarter (April-June).
