Rs33,996m for PAEC, Rs7,832m for HEC: Govt releases Rs218.3b under development programme

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released more than Rs218.38 billion under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for various projects against total allocations of Rs525 billion for the fiscal year 2014-15.

According to data released by Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, Rs33,996 million have been released for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), out of its total allocations of Rs51,475 million, earmarked under PSDP for FY 2014-15.

Upto February 6, an amount of Rs7,832 million have been released for Higher Education Commission (HEC) out of its total allocations of Rs20,020 million whereas Rs16,737 million have been released for Water and Power Division (Water Sector) out of its total allocations of Rs43,427 million for the current fiscal year.

The government released Rs26,996 million for Railways Division for which Rs39,566 million have been earmarked in the PSDP of FY 2014-15.

An amount of Rs2,095 million has been released for Cabinet Division out of its total allocations of Rs2,767 million whereas Rs3,005 million have been released for Communications Division (other then NHA) out of Rs3,152 million.

A sum of Rs260 million have been released for Commerce Division out of its total allocations of Rs363 million whereas out of the total allocations of Rs11,611 million allocated for Finance Division, the government has so far released Rs3,880 million.

According to the data, the government also released Rs2,483 million for Interior Division for which Rs3,900 million have been earmarked in the budget of current year whereas Rs414 million have been released for National Food Security and Research Division.

Similarly, Rs26,841 million have been released for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division out of its total allocations of Rs27,014 million.

A sum of Rs410 million have been released for Planning, Development and Reform Division out of Rs29,375 million, the data revealed.

Rs33 million have been released for Narcotics Control Division out of its total funds of Rs324 million.

The government also released Rs547 million for Science and Technological Research Division, Rs40 million for Textile Industry Division and Rs140 million for SUPARCO.

The government released Rs8,401 million for AJK (Block and other projects) out of its allocations of Rs12,127 million, Rs4,258 million for Gilgit-Baltistan (Block and other projects) out of its total allocations of Rs9,230 million and Rs7,578.907 million for SAFRON/FATA out of its Rs.19100 million.

Rs5,242 million have been released for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) out of its total allocations of Rs5,000 million.

The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds.

The Commission releases 20 percent of funds in first quarter (July- September), 20 percent in second quarter (October-December), 30 percent third quarter(January-March) and 30 percent in fourth quarter (April-June).

Out of the total allocations for the fiscal year 2014-15,government has so far released Rs.134.846 billion for the different developmental projects under federal ministries and a sum of Rs.45,211.823 million for corporations.

According the data Rs.20,237.014 million have been released for special areas under PSDP 2014-15 for the development and uplift of these areas besides releasing 5,242.755 million for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA).
