ISLAMABAD: More than 73 per cent construction work of the Neelam-Jhelum project has been has been completed and the hydro project would be operational by 2017.
This was revealed by Neelum Jhelum Project Director Muhammad Zubair, while talking to media. He said that the hydro power plant is a most significant assignment and being constructed at the hefty cost of Rs414 billion.
Zubair said that transformer hall has been completed over 82pc and will be comprised of 13 transformers but for now six of them are at working place and would be installed in the month of October. One hydraulic gate has been installed on dam while rest of other two gates will be set up by October to December this year.
Over 13 km concrete line out of 24 km has been furnished and tunnel boring machine replaced at the worth of $697 million as work on tunnel was halted after disaster but the progress getting momentum after replacing new boring machine, he added. He said that around 1,388 engineers mostly are foreigners are working on project and at that time total expenditures of project is Rs168 billion.
