Rs9.66 cut in petrol prices: RTA reduces transport fares by 7pc

ISLAMABAD: After further Rs9.66 cut in petrol prices, Rawalpindi’s Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has reduced the public transport fare by seven per cent, decreasing from stop-to-stop by Rs 2 on urban and intercity routes.

As per new fare schedule, fare of first stage of intercity routes in Rawalpindi has been slashed from Rs 14 to 13, for second stage from Rs 17 to 16, for third stage from Rs 21 to 20, for forth stage from Rs 25 to 24, for 6th stage from Rs 31 to 29 and for last stage from Rs 35 to 33.

RTA Secretary Owais Manzoor Tarar said new fare list will be put to display in all public service vehicles and all the transporters will be bound to charge new fare to commuters from Wednesday. He said that five mobile squads have been set up to check over charging of fare on different routes. In order to curb over charging helpline under No 051-9270011 has been set up and prompt notice will be taken of every complaint.
