RTO-I attaches bank accounts of 50 ‘registered persons’

KARACHI: The Regional Tax Office-FBR Karachi region has attached bank accounts of about 50 ‘registered persons’ after they failed to pay their dues despite the fact that they were issued show-cause notices and orders were also passed against them for recovery.

An amount of over Rs 1,400 million is due against these registered persons. The RTO-I has ordered attachment of their accounts for the recovery of dues in terms of Section 48 of the Sales Tax Act 1990, read with Recovery Rules 2006.

Most of the ‘registered persons’, whose accounts have attached, are textiles mills owners, industrialists and owners of large enterprises.

It has also been stated in most of the cases that these tax payers are non active, blacklisted and suspended and cases are established against them by IRO Zone-I RTO, Karachi.
