LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recovered Rs 200 million by attaching the bank accounts of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on tax evasion of Rs 700 million.

Sources said that the LESCO was receiving the sales tax on electricity bills but not depositing it to the FBR. The department issued notices to the company for depositing the sales tax but it did not. By taking legal action, the FBR froze its accounts in different banks and recovered Rs 200 million, the sources said, adding that measures were taken to recover remaining amount.
