RTO-II collects Rs43412m till 22nd April, eyes to bring non-filers into tax net

KARACHI: The regional tax office (RTO-II) collected Rs43412 million in 22 days of April. Out of which, the RTO-II collected income tax Rs40725 million in the above said period.

Additional Commissioner RTO-II Imran Farooqi told Customs Today that RTO-II collected Rs2256 million sales tax, Rs431 million federal excise duty. Whereas, the RTO-II collected Rs35532 million revenue in first 15 days of March 2017.

Imran Farooqi said that the RTO has decided, in a recent meeting, to bring the non-filers into tax net. The lists of non-filers has already been finished and soon the RTO will start issuance of notifications to the non-filers.

“FBR is trying to narrow down the revenue short fall with the help of withholding tax as it is a major contribution in the over-all revenue. The withholding tax is 71.2% of the total revenue collected till February 2017”, he added.
