RTO-II to pursue Al-Sheikh Caterers for tax evasion on income from PM’s granddaughter’s marriage

LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to take action against the Al-Sheikh Caterers on tax evasion of Rs 750,000 on the income, which it earned by arranging the marriage of granddaughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Sources said that the catering company made work of Rs 15 million on the wedding ceremony but it did not pay any tax to the department. They added that the FBR charged tax at the rate of 5 percent on total expensive of the catering.

The sources further said that the department would also conduct audit of the company to detect the tax evasion, if any. They said that FBR could charge 100 percent fine on the company in case of non-payment of tax, adding that RTO-II will take action against it under Section 236 (D) of marriage hall act.
