RTO-III serves notices on 5000 tax defaulters

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office-III (RTO-III) has issued notices to 5000 tax defaulters and 35,000 potential taxpayers by expediting the efforts to increase the tax collection by the end of current fiscal year 2015-16.

Talking to Customs Today Regional Tax Office-III (RTO-III) Additional Commissioner Tabraiz Khan said that a letter has been received almost three months before the end of the fiscal year from the FBR directing to boost the tax recovery process.

He said that the RTO had started scrutiny of the record to detect the tax evaders a month ago, adding that tax evaders have been issued notices after finding their names asking them to reply the notice until April 5.

The FBR will seized the properties of the tax defaulters, if they did not respond to the tax notices till April 5, he said, adding that RTO-III taking effective measures to bring the most of the people into tax net. He hoped that a positive response will be received from the new taxpayers.
