RTO_II taking exclusive measure to boost revenue collection: Sajjad Amjed

LAHORE: Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) exclusively mentoring the filers to watch negative trends and fasten the move of tax collection through audit Paras and arrears to meet the target and enhance the tax collections from the tax payers. This was stated by the Sajjad Amjed Additional Commissioner, zone-IV, RTO-II in his exclusive interview to Customs Today.

Talking on the jurisdictions he told that zone-IV collects Income and sales tax from the taxpayers of Data Gunja Buksh Town, Shalimar Town and Ravi Town. He collect taxes from all commercial activities i.e. paper and board, plastic, paper and broad, whole sellers, traders and medicine companies, 40 thousands taxpayers came under the jurisdiction.

He said that many cases sent by intelligence and investigation and zone ensure the tax collection after the process. Zone-IV also works for Broadening of tax (BTB) to increase tax volume. He also collect taxes from the purchase of vehicles came under their jurisdiction.

Sajjad Said that zone-IV properly monitor filers to watch negative trends and ensure stock taking of non filers to raise the tax collections. He said the teams depute for checking of actual stock of taxpayers and takes hard action against those where discrepancies found by the officers and officials.

Furthermore, he said that after the separation of corporate and non corporate taxpayers’ bundle of arrears case transfer in RTO-II. Through hardworking, motivation and experienced staff RTO upgrade and streamline all record and focusing tax collections from the defaulters who did not submitted their tax liability from many years.

He said that many audit paras and reports pending in the RTO and working on this. Due to the hardworking RTO-II will solve this and ensure the tax recovery after audit para. After the audit of taxpayers audit officer point out discrepancy RTO-II, zone IV collect taxes from the said person or company.

Being as focal person of indirect taxes in RTO-II he said that RTO more focusing on indirect taxes to enhance tax collection in the ongoing tax year.

Zone-IV also checks the rates prescribed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and point out that every taxpayers pay their tax liabilies under the specific rate. In some cases taxpayers pay their taxes under fewer rates from assigned. If in any case less rate are found RTO takes remedial measures.

He told that FBR, Regional Tax Office has assigned 375 million targets for the month of October in which 300 million in sales tax and 75 million in income tax. Zone-IV working hard and will meet the target at the end of month.

Amjed said that Chief Commissioner RTO-II Khawaja Adnan Zaheer holds workshops, seminars and training sessions for the training and education of the officers and we learn more from these education activities. Directorate of Training (DOT) also holds meetings in RTO for the training of officers. Strong understanding between seniors and juniors is good sign to enhance tax collection.
