MOSCOW: The experience of interaction between the customs services of Belarus and Russia will be utilized in the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA learned from Sergei Konovalenko, Head of the Customs Cooperation Office of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, before the opening of the science and practice conference meant to celebrate 20 years of cooperation between the Belarusian and Russian customs services on 14 May.
Sergei Konovalenko noted that information exchange is the key component of cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Russia. “We certainly came up with a number of interesting technologies when we tried to establish information interaction with Belarusian colleagues. We have in essence created an information system for sharing data between the two services. We plan to assimilate the system within the framework of the new integration association,” said the official
In his words, the conference is supposed to sum up cooperation results and highlight the technologies that can be effectively used in the future. “The Customs Union is expanding and the technologies that have been worked out together with the Belarusian side are being transferred to our Kazakh and Armenian colleagues and now Kyrgyz colleagues. I think as part of the conference new promising solutions will be suggested to make customs cooperation even more effective and reliable and meeting expectations of economic operators,” stressed Sergei Konovalenko.
The science and practice conference to mark 20 years of cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Russia is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 14-15 May. Participants of the event are expected to discuss prospects of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union member states, the organization of day-to-day operation of customs services, international standards of risk management in the work of the Belarusian and Russian customs services.
