MOSCOW: In August 2016 Russia exported 34.2 KMT of sunflower meal against 39.5 KMT in July 2016 and 7.2 KMT in August 2015, informs UkrAgroConsult. Since the beginning of 2015/16 (September-August) Russia shipped 1192 KMT of sunflower meal, which did not reach the results of 2014/15 MY, when Russia exported 1329 KMT. Sunflower meal exports have decreased third season in a row due to the higher consumption on domestic market.
Key supply markets remain EU countries and Turkey. The largest volumes are purchased by Turkey – 32% of all sunmeal exports, Latvia (25%) and Italy (15%). Considering the fact, that sunseed production forecast for 2016/17 is not lower than 10.5 MMT considerable changed are not expected for these markets, but their size will expand.
