MOSCOW: During the first two months of 2016 Russian forest companies managed to export more logs and sawn timber in volume terms.
Thus, in January-February 2016 the Russian sawn timber export grew by 3.87% year-on-year and reached 1.9 million tons. Such data is available at the Russian Federal Customs Service’s official website.
During the same period Russia exported nearly 2.89 million m3 of logs, that indicates to the 3.74% growth year-on-year.
As to log and sawn timber exports expressed in value terms, the situation is a bit less favorable for Russia. In January-February 2016, the country’s sawn timber exports amounted to $376.5 million, having gone down by 15.22% over January-February 2015. The value of the Russian logs exported during the same period came up to $196 million, 7.8% down year-on-year.
Log and sawn timber exports from Russia to the non-CIS states grew in volume terms by 4.1% and 13.6% respectively.
