MOSCOW: In January-February 2017, Russian pulp exports decreased year-on-year, indicate the statistics published by the Russian Federal Customs Office. Thus, during the first two months of the current year Russia exported 302,100 tonnes of pulp, that is almost 11.9% less than during the respective period of the last year. The total value of the Russian pulp exported in January-February 2017 went down as well, from $154 million in 2016 to $139.1 in 2017. Therefore, the decrease came up to 9.67%.
In January-February 2017, Russia exported 292,300 tonnes of pulp to the non-CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries. The value of the exported pulp came up to $133.9 million. Exports to CIS came up to 9,800 tonnes in volume terms and $5.2 in value terms. As to Russian newsprint, its export figures increased both in value and in volume terms. In January-February 2017, Russia exported 180,300 tonnes of newsprint (10.07% up) valued at US$74.7 million (18.19% up).
