MOSCOW: Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher. At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.40%. The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 2.98% or 2.350 points to trade at 81.150 at the close. Meanwhile, RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) added 2.91% or 0.0243 points to end at 0.8598 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 2.41% or 0.0238 points to 1.0111 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which fell 3.08% or 1.240 points to trade at 39.020 at the close. Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) declined 2.59% or 3.75 points to end at 141.15 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) was down 1.92% or 1.37 points to 70.08. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 116 to 108 and 16 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.62% to 19.290. Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.10% or 14.22 to $1312.12 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.43% or 1.64 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.68 to trade at $51.30 a barrel. USD/RUB was down 0.03% to 58.5650, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 70.1122. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.18.
