MOSCOW: In June 2014, Russia launched a unique production of full cycle microsources for the treatment of prostate cancer with low dose brachytherapy. The high-tech complex, total investments in which amounted to 688 million rubles ($8.7 million), was established in Dubna, the international nuclear physics research center and one of the largest scientific foundations in Russia.

“Since 2016, it is planned to export [the microsources] — to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Middle East,” the Minister of Investments and Innovations Denis Butsaev was quoted in the press release as saying.
