NEW DELHI: Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Andrey Belyaninov, visited New Delhi at the invitation of Indian Customs & Central Excise Department.
During the visit, he attended meetings with the head of the Customs Service of India, Kaushal Srivastava. They discussed issues of bilateral customs cooperation, and signed two inter-agency protocols. One was on the organization of joint-work on sending information in advance to accelerate customs clearance, and carrying out customs control procedures on goods and vehicles moving between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India (Protocol on the organization of a “green corridor”). The other was on cooperation in combating customs offenses relating to the transportation of goods by air.
Special attention was given to bilateral cooperation in the field of law enforcement, as well as prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation within the BRICS organization, as well as the North-South International Transport Corridor.
In furthering the goal of creating favorable conditions for trade, the parties agreed to hold workshops with business representatives to discuss the simplification of customs procedures – in the Indian Embassy in Moscow in May 2015, and in the Russian Embassy in India in September-October 2015.
