MOSCOW: The decree on simplification of customs procedure was signed, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

”We have a roadmap focused on improvement of customs administration. It will be complemented by a range of new measures, about 15,” the prime minister said at the Cabinet meeting. “Decisions at the level of the government and relevant authorities should be taken on these issues by the end of this year,” Medvedev said.

The business climate in Russia depends on convenience of customs formalities, the prime minister said. “We are interested in having simpler and quicker clearance procedures in seaports, so that the service cost is not higher than for similar services in ports of other countries,” Medvedev said, adding that not all Russian ports are at the international level in this regard. Furthermore, costs and transport tariffs are growing, he said.

“Such a situation is not suitable for us. Servicing of transport operations should be more advanced and convenient, including electronic declaration,” the prime minister said.
