SAARC chamber announces relief consignments for Pakistan-Afghanistan earthquake-hit areas

ISLAMABAD: South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an apex body in the region on Thursday announced to despatch a number of relief consignments to the earthquake-hit areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In a statement issued on behalf of all Vice Presidents of member countries, Iftikahr Ali Malik Vice President SAARC CCI and incharge SAARC CCI Headquarters office, Islamabad, expressed grief and sorrow over the causalities of the people in earthquake in Pakistan and Afghanistan”.

He said the SAARC CCI was with the victims in this hour of trial and would extend all possible assistance for the early rehabilitation of the affected people and re-construction of their damaged and partially collapsed houses on top priority.

He said that all Vice Presidents of member countries had been approached to send their relief goods directly to affected countries.

While Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and all its affiliated chambers of commerce and industries across the country have also been directed to make necessary arrangements on war-footings for delivery of relief goods in affected areas and share with government efforts for quick rehabilitation of victims,he added.
