Sadiqabad FIU seizes non duty paid computer LCDs during crackdown

SADIQABAD: The Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) on Monday recovered foreign origin used computer system and LCD worth Rs4.5 million involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs1.3 million besides impounded trailer worth Rs3 million during crackdown.

Sources informed Customs Today, that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received a tip off about some smuggling attempts. He formed a raiding team. The customs team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no TLB-268 loaded with container no BMOU-614306-3 near Sindh Punjab Check Post National Highway Kot Sabzal and recovered smuggled used computer systems and LCDs and other different items.

The customs team asked the accused Muhammad Mustakeem to produce legal documents regarding the possession of loaded goods but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

The customs team seized the goods under the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
