ISLAMABAD: Islam is a religion of peace and religious scholars are promoting inter-faith harmony, tolerance a nd brotherhood in the society.  Their role to educate people about religious matters is of prime significance.  This has been stated by President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawar while addressing a ceremony held in honour of Pir Syed Sarwar Chishti,  custodian of the shrine of Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz,  Khawaja Moinundin Chisthti ( R.A), Ajmeir Sharif, India here at Chamber House.

He added that Ulemas also play a significant role in fostering understanding and cooperation among people of different faiths and that their efforts contribute to a more harmonious and compassionate world.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari further said that peace and tranquility are prerequisites for the progress and prosperity of a country especially for the growth of businesses and that  Islamabad Chamber of Commerce  and Industry along with its responsibility of provision of congenial atmosphere for the business community is equally paying attention on  creating awareness about the teachings of Quran and Sunnah  for the promotion of tolerance and love  in the society by organizing religious gatherings on regular basis.

Addressing the ceremony, Pir Syed Sarwar Chishti said that interfaith harmony is the best way of promoting Islamic teachings especially in times of disharmony and internal conflicts. He said that Sufi saints associated with shrines always preach love, compassion, tolerance and people from various faiths visit these shrines to seek blessings, healing, and solace.

He also praised the role of  Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry for arranging regular sittings for the purpose which are paying a lot for the propagation of Islamic principles and values.

Pir Syed Mohammad Ali Gilani asserted that for successes in this world and the world hereafter we have to strengthen our connection with the religion, adding that the business community also has to run their businesses as per the teachings of Islam.

In his vote of thanks Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Engr. Azhar ul Islam Zafar expressed gratitude to Pir Syed Sarwar Chishti for visiting Chamber House and divulging important information about the propagation of Islamic wisdoms.

Those present from the ICCI side also include Raja Hassan Akhtar, Yousuf Rajput, Ch. Mohammad Ali, Tehmas Butt, Zulqurnan Abbasi, Khalid Ch. Faizan Shahzad, Syed Haider Assad, Ch. Waseem. Executive member Ashfaq Chattah performed the role of coordinator.
