FBR asks RTOs to streamline assessment, processing cell to stop sales tax evasion

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has directed Regional Tax Offices to streamline the assessment and processing cell to stop sales tax evasion in future.

According to details, the main function of this cell is to uncover tax evasions and send records to the Inland Revenue intelligence department. After receiving the record the intelligence department will investigate the case and make recovery from the concerned quarters.

The cell is also responsible to access the monthly tax returns of the filers, and if the returns shows forged figures then the cell have authority to inquire and analyze the data about tax returns.

Sources told Customs Today, that due to non operational of this cell billion of loss faced by FBR in the column of sales tax.

Now FBR has issued directives to all RTOs concerned to streamline the assessment and processing cells.
